Job description

Woods Machinery is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic team. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will play a vital role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of the machinery brands we represent and support. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, extensive knowledge of heavy equipment diesel, hydraulic and electrical systems, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in all equipment supported by the company including but not limited to: Track Loaders, Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Chippers, Stump Grinders, Hydroseeders and Commercial Mowers.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections.
  • Conduct thorough equipment inspections to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns.
  • Interpret technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately and maintain detailed records.
  • Consistently achieve and adhere to the allocated flat rate or estimated hours for each repair task.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated expertise as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, with a proven track record in diesel, hydraulic/hydrostatic, fuel and electrical repair skills.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient with computers and interpreting schematics and technical manuals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to industry regulations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Certificates from prior technical training, with emphasis on diesel engines, hydraulic/hydrostatic systems, fuel systems, and electrical components is preferred.
  • Must possess standard tools for equipment repairs.
  • Attention to detail, organizational proficiency, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
  • Capable of working in both indoor and outdoor settings, exposed to varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, wind, rain, along with potential elements like dust, dirt, and noise.
  • Work overtime as business needs arise.
