Job description

The Quarry Equipment Operator will primarily be operating a large wheel front-end loader and will be responsible for feeding material to the crushing plant, loading material in off road trucks and trailers, stockpiling material, and sorting material. This position is proficient at throwing-off material in a high-wall operation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES OF POSITION:

  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Follow all company policies and MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Follow direction of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
  • Operate loader is a safe and efficient manner
  • Must have good depth perception and coordination to operate controls
  • Perform pre- and post-inspection checks on equipment
  • Communicate with onsite foreman of daily work requirements
  • Follow designated routes adhering to safety policies and procedures in place
  • Move raw aggregate material from quarry to crushing system
  • Transport materials throughout quarry into piles, trucks, or crushers
  • Keep updated logs of completed work
  • Identify and communicate workplace hazards while adhering to safety policies
  • Complete daily pre-operational checks and basic maintenance on the equipment
  • Identify and resolve basic mechanical equipment issues
  • Ability to work independently, without direct supervision
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays/nights
  • Ability to work and communicate well with Supervisors, Truck Drivers, Heavy Equipment Operators, and other employees
  • Other duties assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • 2+ years loader operator experience
  • Must be able to provide proper documentation that you have the legal right to work in the United States.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
  • May require sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions.
