About the Role & Your Impact

We are hiring a Sr. System Electric Home Designer to be our in-house technical expert. This role will involve completing Manual J/S with HVAC design software, scoping electrical requirements and upgrades to NEC 220.83 standards, specifying water heater and battery upgrades, and scoping weatherization projects. Designers will work closely with home comfort advisors, sales teams, and installation managers to ensure systems are designed according to customer specifications, building codes, and energy efficiency standards. This role will also support the development of design documents, plans, specifications, and quotes, ensuring that high-quality solutions are delivered by our Field Operations team. Ultimately, Designers will be responsible for establishing quality control processes that ensure all designs and heat pump solutions going to customers meet Zero Homesโ€™ rigorous standards.ย 
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of system design experience and/or relevant deep technical experience, including load calculations, equipment selection, and/or energy modeling
  • Deep understanding of residential buildings (i.e., Building Science, residential mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), heat pump technology, and heat pump products
  • Fluency in data-driven tooling and software, such as spreadsheets, python, etc.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; we're looking for team players
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred but not required

  • HVAC sales experience or home energy assessment experience
  • Ability to speak Spanish or other languages to support customers or partners whose native language is not English
