Location: Heartis Mid Cities, an Independent and Assisted Living with Memory Care senior community       

Pay Rate: $19/hr. 

Full-Time

Availability: Must be available weekends and holidays

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals, including soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, and baked goods, from fresh, canned, dry, or frozen states according to recipes.
  • Adhere to residents' special dietary needs and restrictions.
  • Monitor all food items for temperature, taste, and quality; taste food to ensure top-notch quality.
  • Use various utensils and grillers to cook food, stirring or turning as needed.
  • Dress dishes for a great presentation before serving.
  • Keep the kitchen sanitized and orderly, ensuring all equipment is cleaned, working properly, and turned off before closing.
  • Store all food and items properly to maintain freshness and safety.
  • Check and ensure the quality of ingredients.
  • Monitor stock levels and place orders for shortages with supervisor's approval.
  • Follow nutrition and sanitation guidelines, including governmental and company policies, and ensure proper documentation.
  • Assist in training and orienting new kitchen staff.
  • Maintain high standards of appearance, cleanliness, and personal hygiene.
  • Attend all required in-service training sessions.
  • Be an active member of the community’s emergency response team.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and good personal hygiene as per company policies.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED (culinary school training is a plus).
  • Accredited food handler certification within 60 days, as per State guidelines.
  • 6 months to 1 year of proven experience as a cook.
  • Experience with cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware.
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.).
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
  • Team player with effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent physical condition and stamina.
