Job Summary: Support and facilitate all technical requirements daily to fulfill the needs of SMC’s customers and employees.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct daily technical production activities in support of operations and in alignment with the Divisional Technical Manager and the Production Managers and Supervisors
  • Coordinate molding and automation technical support with scheduling, tool room, and maintenance to prioritize and address daily production issues and needs
  • Assess all Production technical staff on daily performance and attendance issues
  • Direct supervision of Mold Technicians and Material Handlers
  • Assess each Technician to identify training needs and coordinate providing or setting up training where necessary
  • Monitor efficiency metrics – Cycle Time and Scrap Rates to ensure BOM accuracy
  • Provide cost savings ideas to the responsible team and participate where required in cost savings activities
  • Hiring of Technical resources within the technical group
  • Provide support for technical issues and coverage for vacations and absences
  • Maintain a clean and organized production floor that is always tour ready
  • Build a team of trust and respect
  • Complete mold setups, start production, and assist in troubleshooting issues
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma/GED
  • Ten or more years’ experience in Injection molding/manufacturing
  • Possess a strong knowledge in injection molding processing and troubleshooting
  • Ability to direct multiple employees to accomplish the daily goals of the production groups
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to conduct technical training
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead in stressful situations

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Supervisory or leadership experience

ADA Requirements:

  • Stand, walk, bend, squat, twist, reach or otherwise move frequently
  • Occasional repetitive motion and grasping
  • Occasional climbing to reach areas on machines or racks
  • Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. occasionally, >20 lbs. frequently
  • Typically sits, grasps items or performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer
  • Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards which may require respiratory protection
