What You’ll Do 

As a CT Technologist, you will report to the Coordinator/Director. Performs computerized tomography (CT) scans and procedures that require independent judgment and a high degree of precision and skill in the application of high technology computerized CT equipment. You will follow protocols and procedures as directed by the radiologist and/or supervising technologist.

CT Technologist Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs CT scans of all body parts according to established protocols, policies, and procedures
  • Obtains relevant clinical history to support radiologist interpretation
  • Communicates with referring physicians and healthcare staff; relays reports as needed
  • Explains CT procedures to patients and families
  • Maintains sterile and isolation techniques to prevent contamination
  • Administers IV contrast, obtains allergy history, monitors patient condition, and reports concerns as needed
  • Performs CPR and other emergency support procedures when required
  • Assists physicians with biopsies and drainage procedures
  • Prepares documentation and uploads scans into the PACS system
  • Operates imaging equipment and transmits images to designated systems (e.g., Nighthawk)
  • Tracks examinations using the Radiology Information System (RIS)
  • Performs equipment startup/shutdown, reports malfunctions, and maintains equipment in proper condition
  • Participates in continuing education, in-services, conferences, and department meetings
  • Maintains professional affiliations and stays current with professional literature
  • Completes additional job-related duties and projects as assigned

What You Bring 

As a CT Technologist, it requires knowledge of radiation-emitting equipment and demonstrates the ability to properly position patients for all examinations. You must possess strong communication skills to effectively understand and follow written and verbal instructions. You will maintain an interest in scientific, technical, and computer-based knowledge to master CT imaging protocols while minimizing patient exposure. Also demonstrates the computer proficiency needed to accurately maintain patient records.

Required Qualifications 

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through graduation from an approved school of radiology technology with registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART), certification by the Indiana State Board of Health and three months of on-the-job training.
