Description
Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring an adjunct instructor of the Anesthesia Technology Program in the Health and Wellness Department. The responsibilities include teaching all assigned courses, being prepared with instructional plans, enforcing academic policies, contributing to curriculum development, maintaining student records, assisting with program certification, maintaining communication with other units, staying updated in the field, and performing other assigned tasks as needed.
This is a continuous posting for the 2025-2026 academic year and may close at any time without notice.
Examples of Duties
  • Teach all courses (classroom, lab, clinical), as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction

  • Be fully prepared with instructional plans for each class session in accordance with the stated objectives of the course

  • Enforce academic policy and procedures at all times, and comply with institutional rules and regulations pertinent to classroom instruction and general employment

  • Assist in the revision and development of course outlines, syllabi, curriculum plans, and other instructional documentation required to meet program objectives;

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of competency-based education and utilize available educational resources for the evaluation, improvement of instruction and the development of teaching materials;

  • Maintain complete student records, as needed; processing reports, forms, and all other requested paperwork in a timely, efficient manner, checking for the accuracy, correctness, and completeness of all data;

  • Assist the program director and clinical coordinator in activities pertaining to the certification and accreditation of the program and curriculum;

  • Maintain proper communication and supportive relations at all times with all other units and branches of the division and the College, providing assistance to them in carrying out their respective functions;

  • Stay current with instruction developments and complete all mandatory work-related and professional development training.

  • Assume other necessary responsibilities and perform additional tasks as assigned by the chair, department dean, chief instructional officer, or president, in meeting the needs of the department, division, and college

  • Assume responsibility for laboratory/classroom preparation, including maintenance and cleanup, and recommend, as necessary, appropriate laboratory supplies and equipment. Notify the program director of needed supplies and materials.

Minimum Qualifications
  • The instructor must have a minimum of an associate's degree in applied sciences.

  • the Instructor should hold a valid certification from The American Society of Anesthesia Technologists & Technicians.

Work Experience:
  • The instructor must be currently working as an anesthesia technician or technologist is required.

  • The instructor must have a minimum5 years of work experience as an anesthesia tech required.

Supplemental Information
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and effective oral and written communication/public relation skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Experience with Blackboard or Sakai desired.
