Job description

  • Build a site culture with an unconditional stance on safety and environmental compliance
  • Lead the site EHS team and serve as a critical member of the management team
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate SIF, critical safety, health, and environmental programs
  • Identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may cause injury or property damage
  • Apply safety standards, best practices, analytical techniques, and behavior-based safety programs
  • Identify and document hazards, incidents, near misses, fires, unsafe conditions, spills, releases, and non-compliance
  • Conduct formal risk assessments and implement control measures for manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials
  • Investigate EHS incidents and workers’ compensation matters, identify root causes, document findings, and coordinate corrective actions
  • Lead emergency training, evacuation planning, emergency response, safety audits, and environmental inspections
  • Maintain 100% completion of training plans and certified employee competence
  • Develop and update Critical Safety Foundations, SIF programs, and other EHS programs with site leadership and Doors Business Unit EHS
  • Drive sustainability goals and innovative EHS solutions with site stakeholders
  • Maintain EHS and safety training documentation and retention
  • Oversee environmental reporting and compliance with federal, state, and local requirements
  • Champion the Safety Committee and support subcommittees
  • Develop, implement, and monitor EHS action plans and programs
  • Coach and mentor site personnel and reinforce safety and environmental compliance
  • Serve as initial EHS contact for Doors Product Stewardship reviews
  • Maintain leadership presence and engage employees in safety processes
  • Participate in Kaizen, 5S, Lean Daily Management, Waste Elimination, Managing for Daily Improvement, Visual Factory, Six Sigma, and similar processes
  • Drive change management and engagement in EHS activities
  • Translate safety and health strategies into results
  • Maintain and communicate EHS charts, graphs, and metrics
  • Oversee the site Safety Data Sheet system
  • Drive ergonomics initiatives to reduce musculoskeletal-disorder illnesses and injuries
  • Collaborate on wellness programs to meet site needs
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to EH&S, such as Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or Science, or equivalent
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience leading EHS efforts in an industrial manufacturing setting
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience leading an EHS team
  • Experience implementing EHS programs in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading a highly functional EHS team
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA and/or state regulations
  • Experience implementing, coordinating, and managing OSHA and EPA compliance programs
  • CSP certification preferred
  • OSHA 500 series training preferred
  • Ability to lead a team of professionals
  • Hazard recognition and risk assessment skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Innovative mindset and ability to support change and program development
  • Strong critical thinking, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills
