Job description

Health Record Receptionist

Under the supervision of the Health Record Supervisor, is responsible for the Health Record reception, closing of Health Records department, Updox E-Fax, scan paper documents, Appointment desk, Nurse Encounter desk, HealthAsyst Check in System and Patient Portal Messaging. Serves as a focal point for providing a professional and positive image to all UMC patients/clients and visitors regarding all areas of United Medical Center's services. Performs health record functions as required in order to facilitate the patient flow, customer service and release of Patient Health Information (PHI). Responsible for compliance with other requirements impacting United Medical Centers such as State/Federal regulations, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA), Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH), Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH), Quality Axis, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Standards, and Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance (QI/QA) and Americans with Disabilities Acts (ADA) Requirements. Requirements

Education:

1. High school graduate or equivalent.

2. Business School Graduate or Associate Degree in related field preferred.

Experience/Training:

1. Must have at least 1-year experience in the Health Record or Business Office Environment.

2. Computer experience in several programs required.

3. Ability to type 40 wpm.

4. Filing experience required.

5. Familiar with medical terminology preferred.

6. General knowledge of clerical duties.

7. Good communication skills.
