Job description

Job Title: Behavioral Health Intern
Location: Greenville, Charlotte, Durham
Job Type: Internship (Part-Time / Full-Time Based on Program Requirements)
Position Overview
Pathways To Life, Inc. is seeking motivated and compassionate Behavioral Health Interns to join our clinical team. This internship provides hands-on experience in community-based mental health services and is designed for students pursuing degrees in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related human services fields.
Interns will gain direct exposure to behavioral health practices, documentation standards, and multidisciplinary team collaboration while working alongside experienced professionals in programs such as ACTT, CST, IIH, and TCM.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with providing community-based behavioral health services under supervision
  • Observe and participate in client interactions, including skill-building and support services
  • Support development and implementation of Person-Centered Plans
  • Complete required documentation in accordance with Medicaid and agency standards
  • Participate in team meetings, case staffing, and supervision sessions
  • Assist with care coordination and linkage to community resources
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards at all times

Learning Objectives
  • Gain practical experience in behavioral health service delivery
  • Develop clinical documentation skills aligned with compliance standards
  • Understand multidisciplinary team dynamics in community mental health
  • Build foundational skills in client engagement, communication, and crisis response

Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field
  • Must be eligible for internship/field placement through an accredited college or university
  • Strong interest in behavioral health and community-based services
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in human services or healthcare setting
  • Interest in working with individuals with mental health or substance use disorders
