Job description

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizes and analyzes inpatient and outpatient medical records for patients recently dismissed from various units. Assists in accountability and organization of dismissal records when necessary. Creates appropriate deficiencies on inpatient and outpatient records. Assists in other areas of department as necessary, to include assisting professional staff in completion of incomplete records, registration of births, scanning, performing quality assurance screening, in-depth analysis and auditing medical record files. Promotes Health System's guest relations policy. Acts as a mentor for other departmental positions. Follows strict confidential guidelines. Contributes to the overall success of the Health Information Management team. Complies with all Federal and State regulations and accrediting bodies including but not limited to HIPPA and Joint Commission.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or its equivalent is required. Associate degree or bachelors degree in health information management, or a related field (business, healthcare, etc.) preferred. Two or more years of health care experience in a health care environment or Health Information Management Department with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is preferred, but will accept clerical experience in place of healthcare experience.
