Job description


Nemours Children's Health is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist - Informatics to join our pharmacy team in Orlando, Florida.
Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children's Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 130-bed pediatric hospital also features the area's only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. A hospital designed by families for families, Nemours Children's Hospital blends the healing power of nature with the latest in healthcare innovation to deliver world-class care to the children of Central Florida and beyond. In keeping with our goal of bringing Nemours care into the communities we serve, we also provide specialty outpatient care in several clinics located throughout the region.
Under the leadership of the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Pharmacy Operations, the Clinical Informatics Pharmacist Specialist assists in the design, development, validation, implementation, and maintenance of, hospital and pharmacy department clinical/operations information technology (IT) and automation systems, IT quality and safety controls, and system interfaces. This position acts as a liaison between the hospital pharmacy clinical operations, Enterprise Health Informatics team, and hospital associates related to testing, enhancements, maintenance, and data governance for the Physician Order Entry, and other pharmacy related electronic health record (EHR), and finance systems. Additionally, this individual assumes the co-responsibility for maintaining the infusion pump medication libraries and associated technologies as a clinical specialist.
  • Actively participates in system planning, design, building, validation, implementation, enhancement, and maintenance processes for the electronic health record systems (EHR), and adjunct systems.
  • Collaborates with department, enterprise IT associates, and hospital clinicians in the design, implementation and updating of clinical pathways, EHR build for primary medication orders, and order sets, protocols, charge master, and rules
  • Participates in Health Informatics testing for implementation of system upgrades, enhancements and patches while minimizing impact on department workflow, quality and specified regulatory and business functions
  • Maintains current medication formulary within the pharmacy and Physician Order Entry EHR systems as well as medication dosing resources, quality, safety, finance (charge master) systems, and infusion pump libraries
  • Responsible for build, maintenance and testing of all pharmacy electronic and data systems, infusion pump medication libraries and associated technologies in conjunction with clinical and operations pharmacy associates and leaders
  • Serves as a liaison for billing related questions and claim investigation as well as assures appropriate charging as relates to medications ordered utilizing the EHR systems
  • Coordinates training and education for departmental associates regarding modifications and enhancements to the clinical order management in the EHR systems, electronic medication resources, automated dispensing devices, and infusion pump libraries
  • Precepts Post-graduate Pharmacy Residents as part of dedicated Clinical Informatics rotation

Job Requirements
  • B.S Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience required.
  • Active Florida Pharmacist License in Good Standing required.
  • Knowledge and experience with health system EHR systems (EPIC®, preferred, or other), infusion pump medication library software and Pediatric clinical and operations experience preferred.
