Labcorp is seeking a Medical Technologist I to join our Genomics team in Indianapolis, IN.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 5pm-1am

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned clinical laboratory testing accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Prepares workstation and instrumentation for the assigned testing.
  • Operates instruments to implement and perform testing in accordance with established written procedures.
  • Performs routine testing and calculations as required.
  • Resolves routine and non-routine assay problems.
  • Provides technical training/consultation for other operational staff.
  • Ensures the validity of test results through the performance of established quality assurance and quality control procedures.
  • Performs experiments, as scheduled.
  • Documents quality control results. Interprets quality control results and accurately documents biases, warnings, and violations of control rules.
  • Documents corrective action for unusual occurrences (e.g. QC violations, instrument related problems).
  • Ensures maintenance of instruments and equipment is performed according to manufacturer and SOP requirements.
  • Calibrates instruments, equipment, and/or assays as required and documents.
  • Performs instrument and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Notifies laboratory management when an instrument or equipment does not meet specifications.
  • Complies with regulatory guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Bachelor's degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
  • One year of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • One yearhands-on experience with NGS technologies and practices including but not limited to Nucleic Acid isolation and manipulation, library preparation, QC, and NGS platform operations (MiSeq, NextSeq, NovaSeq preferred).
  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • Two years clinical testing experience

Additional Job Standards

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory automation platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, resolve and report results and findings (informatics experience is not required but is a plus).
  • Ability to support method development and improvement.
  • Effective communication skills with technical staff, business development staff and peers.
  • Individual must qualify as testing personnel under the following CLIA 1988 and New York State Department of Health requirements.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Pay Range: All job offers will bebased on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicabledegrees/certifications,as well as internal equity and market data.
