Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a member of the flight crew in the role of Flight for Life (FFL) Paramedic Critical Care Transport, you will assists in meeting the physical and emotional needs of critically ill and injured patients. As a FFL Critical Care Transport Paramedic, you will directly promote safe and efficient operation of Flight For Life.

14-Week Flight for Life Training & orientation schedule

  • On-site at Colorado front-range hospitals, to include:
    • St Anthony Hospital (Lakewood, CO)
    • St Francis Medical Center (Colorado Springs, CO)
    • St Mary Corwin (Pueblo, CO)
    • Mercy Regional Medical Center (Durango, CO)
  • 12-14 weeks on-site, required
    • Two weeks didactic
    • 10-12 weeks precepted critical care transport training
    • (3) 12-hour shifts per week; variable schedule requiring nights, days, and weekends (eligible for differentials)

Included during your orientation

  • Lodging provided 
  • Mileage reimbursement for (1) trip home to visit during 14-week training (or within one month of completion) up to a max of $500
  • Own, reliable vehicle transportation required to commute to training bases
  • Post-training, 2-year commitment agreement required

Job Requirements

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • 3 years or 4,000 hours experience as a Paramedic provider in 911 ALS or critical care transport, (ground or air) or 4,000 hours of critical care experience in-hospital
  • Colorado State and Kansas State Paramedic Certification required and National Registry as a paramedic. Must maintain currency in all certifications required by CAMTS, (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems)
  • BLS, (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate) required
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification) required within 6 months of hire/transfer date
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required within 12 months of hire/transfer date
  • TPATC (Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course) or ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) required within 12 months of hire/transfer date
  • FP-C (Certified Flight Paramedic) required within 2 years of hire/transfer date
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass the annual Pre Check review of driving record for safe vehicle operations required

Physical Requirements
Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10lbs. constantly
