Summary

Spire is seeking a Analyst II, GIS to work in the Birmingham, AL area. This position will work individually and in a team environment to manage assets within Spire’s Enterprise GIS, including digital work order asbuilting, facility maintenance, assurance of data quality, provide training, and documentation of processes.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Use ESRI desktop and mobile software to collect construction asbuilt data and edit versioned data and correlating attributes to create permanent asset records.
  • Maintain data quality and integrity through advanced understanding of GIS and interdepartmental processes.
  • Support data integrity by completing advanced editing geoprocessing. Support miscellaneous mapping and data inquiries as assigned.
  • Assist with training within the GIS department and support cross functional training.
  • Assist with process documentation generation.
  • Use Maximo to workflow workorders thought out the asbuilt lifecycle and to research legacy facility data.
  • Support other departments data requests and special projects using GIS that require advanced editing and geoprocessing tools.
  • Conduct testing and assist in completing departmental database and application changes.
  • Assist with creation and testing of views and templates.
  • Occasionally assist with publishing data to GIS servers.
  • Support departmental reporting requirement and demonstrate understanding of reporting processes.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Education (certifications, licenses)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Geo-Science, Cartography, GIS or related field, required. 
  • Valid driver’s license, required. 
Required knowledge, skill and abilities
  • 2+ years GIS experience required.
  • Gas or other utility experience preferred.
  • Understanding of editing best practices, versioning, conflict management, and ESRI mobile applications.
  • Understanding of pipeline operation and gas utilities.
  • Basic understanding of historical documentation and records research.
     
Physical demands, environment and schedule
  • Work can be performed in an office, and/or field setting where ongoing exposure to the elements may occur.
  • Typically, 7:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Overtime and/or travel may be required.
