Job description

Baystate Health is a not-for-profit, integrated healthcare system in western Massachusetts which consists of an academic medical center, three community hospitals and the region’s largest multispecialty group. Our flagship hospital, Baystate Medical Center, is home to the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School - Baystate is seeking a Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program in Ware, Massachusetts.

Position Overview:
Baystate Health, western Massachusetts’ premier academic health system and the region’s only tertiary care center, is seeking an experienced and visionary physician leader to serve as the Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program in Ware, Massachusetts.
This is a unique opportunity to build and shape a community-based residency program while maintaining an active clinical practice caring for patients in Ware. Leveraging the strength and resources of our academic affiliation with UMass Chan Medical School, the Program Director will play a critical role in developing the next generation of family medicine physicians while directly impacting the health of the local community.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic leadership, oversight, and direction for the Family Medicine Residency Program
• Lead the development and growth of the residency program, including program structure, curriculum design, and faculty engagement
• Ensure full compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements and standards
• Maintain an active clinical practice, providing high-quality patient care in the Ware community
• Recruit, mentor, and evaluate residents and core faculty
• Foster a culture of academic excellence, inclusion, and collaboration
• Partner with institutional leadership and UMass Chan Medical School on educational initiatives
• Support scholarly activity, research, and quality improvement efforts
• Represent the program within Baystate Health and the broader medical community

Qualifications:
• MD or DO degree with board certification in Family Medicine
• Eligibility for medical licensure in Massachusetts
• Demonstrated experience in graduate medical education, including teaching and leadership roles
• Prior experience as Associate Program Director or Program Director preferred
• Strong understanding of ACGME requirements and accreditation processes
• Proven leadership, communication, and team-building skills
• Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education and patient care

Compensation:
The compensation ranges below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
Salary Range: $247,300-$346,120
