Job description

Penn Capital, a majority owned subsidiary of Seaport Global and a SEC registered investment adviser and manager, seeks a Research Analyst. The Research Analyst will support the portfolio management team by conducting industry and company research across Penn Capital's credit and equity portfolios. This role is designed for an early career investment professional with a strong interest in fundamental research, financial markets, and security analysis. Working closely with the team, the Research Analyst will develop investment research skills while contributing to the firm's investment process.

Responsibilities:
  • Support portfolio managers by conducting industry, company, and market research.
  • Perform financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, liquidity analysis, and other quantitative analysis to support investment decisions.
  • Assist with credit analysis, including covenant review and the development of Penn Risk Recommendations (PRRs).
  • Assist with equity research, including company analysis, identification of potential catalysts, and valuation work.
  • Monitor existing portfolio holdings and industry developments.
  • Prepare research reports, presentations, and supporting materials for the investment team.
  • Participate in research meetings and contribute to investment discussions.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
Qualifications:
   Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
   Minimum two years of relevant experience in investment management, investment banking, equity research, credit research, valuation, or a related financial field.
   Progress toward the CFA designation is a plus but not required.
   Strong analytical and quantitative skills with an interest in financial modeling and fundamental research.
   Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and presentation abilities.
   Knowledgeable of Bloomberg, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and related software.
   Highly motivated, collaborative, and eager to develop as an investment professional.
