DMS Coordinator - Vascular Program Description

South College Pittsburgh Campus is seeking a Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) a Clinical Coordinator for the Vascular Program. This position is full-time, on-site in Cranberry Township, PA.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the Department Chair or Program Director with any clinical and student placement or education needs in compliance of the programmatic clinical requirements.
  • Establish and assess all clinical site partnerships and affiliated agreements on a weekly basis to ensure the program meets current clinical placement student needs, while working to exceed the programmatic clinical placement seat requirements to allow for program growth.
  • Coordinate, evaluate, and supervise the program’s clinical operations.
  • Respond in a timely manner to information request from internal and external stakeholders, upholding professional communication standards as defined by the institution.
  • Provide student counseling and advising, as required.
  • Maintain real-time student clinical records, including clinical hours and quarterly grades, affiliation agreements, and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain and encourage valid evaluation of each student by clinical instructor, facility department managers, licensed professionals.
  • Plan, coordinate and schedule student clinical rotations to align with curriculum, lesson plans, and program outcomes.
  • Coordinate evaluations of clinical sites, faculty/student experiences, and/or performance.
  • Evaluate and update performance objectives to ensure meaningful clinical learning experiences.
  • Adhere to South College's Commitment to Behavior Standards.
  • Adhere to all polices and guidelines established by the institution, school, department, affiliated partners, polices as described in the employee/faculty handbook, and any other directives and memoranda.
  • Communicate and validate policy updates, procedural changes, and clinical requirements to clinical instructor.
  • Ensure all students are prepared for each clinical rotation to provide a safe and professional learning environment, including any site-specific learning requirements prior to start.
  • Participate in process improvement and demonstrate adaptability to drive efficiency to improve student outcomes.
  • Conduct regular visits/rounding at clinical sites to provide instructor and student support to maintain strong academic partnerships.
  • Coordinating clinical education with didactic education as assigned by the program director
  • Evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of clinical experiences for the concentration(s) students are enrolled in
  • Provide clinical instruction and document the evaluation and progression of clinical performance leading to clinical competence.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in a related field.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience

  • Have documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques
  • Minimum two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.

Licensure

  • Possess the appropriate credential(s) specific to the concentration(s) that s/he is designated to coordinate
