Job description

Position Title: Software Quality Assurance Analyst

Department: 9030|IRI-Tech Transfer

Responsibilities:

The Software Quality Assurance Analyst plays an important role in ensuring thequality and reliability of IRI software products. They are responsible fordesigning and executing test plans, identifying and reporting bugs, andcollaborating with developers to resolve issues. The Software Quality Assurance Analyst reports to the Chief Technology Officer of the Informatics Research Institute(IRI). This is an on-site position in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Define test objectives and scope;develop test plans and test cases; identify and prioritize test scenarios.
  • Execute test cases manually orusing automated testing tools; reproduce and document bugs and defects; trackand report test progress.
  • Log and categorize bugs usingdefect tracking systems; communicate bugs to developers and track theirresolution; verify bug fixes and ensure they do not introduce new issues.
  • Collaborate with developers tounderstand software requirements and design; communicate test results andfindings to stakeholders; participate in development meetings and providefeedback.
  • Conduct usability testing; evaluatesoftware usability and user experience; identify and report usabilityissues and suggest improvements; ensure software is user-friendly and accessible.
  • Ensure product designconsistency; verifies that UI/UX adheres to IRI guidelines and design principles to ensure consistent customerexperience.
  • Conduct performance testing; assesssoftware performance under load; identify and report performancebottlenecks; optimize software performance for scalability andresponsiveness.
  • Conduct security testing; identifyand assess security vulnerabilities; conduct penetration testing toidentify potential exploits; recommend security measures and bestpractices.
  • Develop documentation; maintainand update test plans, test cases, and test results; document defectreports and resolution procedures; create and maintain user guides andtraining materials.
Qualifications:Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • Or 5 years of work experience in software development in realworld settings may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency inat least one of the following programming languages: Java, C#, Python, orC++.
  • Understanding of various testing methodologies,including black-box testing, white-box testing, exploratory testing, andautomated testing.
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills; ability tometiculously examine software products and identify potential defects;ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and develop effectivesolutions; ability to apply logical thinking to understand softwarebehavior and identify inconsistencies.
  • Ability to clearly articulate test findings, defects,and suggestions to developers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively with developers, projectmanagers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure qualitysoftware delivery.
  • Proficiency in using various testing tools and frameworks, such as Selenium, JUnit, and TestNG.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases and the role of QA testing within the SDLC.
  • Excellent verbal andwritten communication skills; abilityto write clear, concise, and informative documentation, such as testplans, defect reports, and user guides.
  • Excellent planning, documentation,and organizational skills.
  • Competency in Microsoftapplications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
