Job description

Plano, Texas – Hybrid work policy, no remote

Our client, the largest US based company in their industry has an opening for a “hands‑on” tax leader that is interested in a high impact tax leadership position. This company, highly profitable and extremely stable with a moat around its business that allows it to weather up and down economic times, is an ideal situation for someone that views themselves as a “player and coach” who thrives in a fast‑paced acquisitive environment.

This role offers:
  • Strong appreciation for the value tax brings to an organization – Work for an executive leadership team that understands that, in a highly profitable situation, tax can play a major role in adding enterprise value to the organization.
  • Wide variety of work – If doing the same thing repeatedly is ideal, this role is not for you. This person will be hands on with everything from M&A, tax provision, income taxes, indirect taxes, cash tax planning….you name it, you’ll see it at this company.
  • Great opportunity for a first‑time head of tax!- This is one of the rare situations where we require head of tax experience to be considered. If you are an experienced head of tax, we can keep you challenged, but this organization is also open to high potential individuals seeking their first ever head of tax role!
Position requirements:
  • Minium 10 years of overall experience with a preference of 15+ years of experience, including demonstrated prior leadership positions in tax.
  • Major accounting firm foundation followed by senior in‑house tax leadership in a complex corporation.
  • Deep ASC 740 / FIN 48 provision ownership, financial‑statement disclosure experience, and technical tax accounting judgment.
  • Experience with M&A, transaction readiness, SOX compliance, internal controls, or IPO preparation is highly preferred.
  • Hands‑on, energetic, humble leader who is willing to listen, roll up their sleeves, and collaborate across levels and functions.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non‑tax leaders and board‑level stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, mature business judgment, and the ability to operate in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Does this sound like your next challenge?

Are you ready to lead a tax function where your expertise will directly influence business strategy and growth? If you're looking for a role that combines technical depth, executive visibility, and the opportunity to make a real impact, let's have a confidential conversation.
