About the Position

The Head of Construction is responsible for leading and continuously improving the execution of all projects across FourSeasons. This role provides strategic leadership to the Project Delivery Department, ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably, on schedule, and in alignment with FourSeasons' Core Values.

The Head of Construction develops and leads Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, BIM personnel, and other project support functions while partnering closely with Operations, Preconstruction, Field Leadership, Accounting, and Executive Leadership. This position drives accountability, consistency, communication, and operational excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Project Delivery team.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and career development discussions.
  • Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards.
  • Foster a culture aligned with FourSeasons' Core Values.
  • Identify staffing needs and participate in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and succession planning.

Project Delivery Oversight

  • Oversee the successful execution of all projects from turnover through closeout.
  • Monitor project performance related to schedule, budget, labor productivity, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure project teams proactively identify and resolve risks, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Review project status reports and facilitate corrective action when needed.
  • Support project teams in managing complex customer, subcontractor, and vendor relationships.
  • Ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained according to company standards.

Operational Excellence

  • Develop and implement standardized project management processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Drive consistency in project planning, execution, communication, and reporting.
  • Continuously evaluate workflows and identify opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Partner with Executive Leadership to establish departmental goals, KPIs, and strategic initiatives.
  • Utilize data and reporting to drive decision-making and improve project outcomes.

Financial Management

  • Monitor project financial performance across the portfolio.
  • Review project forecasts, labor productivity, cost projections, and profitability metrics.
  • Support Project Managers in developing recovery plans for projects experiencing financial challenges.
  • Collaborate with Accounting and Operations to ensure accurate project financial reporting.
  • Drive accountability for maintaining and improving project margins.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Preconstruction to ensure effective project turnover and scope alignment.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Field Leadership to ensure successful manpower planning and resource allocation.
  • Work closely with BIM and VDC personnel to support project coordination and execution.
  • Support business development efforts by strengthening client relationships and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Serve as a key liaison between Executive Leadership and the Project Delivery team.

Risk Management

  • Ensure contractual obligations are understood and managed appropriately.
  • Assist project teams with dispute resolution, change management, and claim avoidance.
  • Monitor project risk exposure and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Support company compliance with contractual, legal, and safety requirements.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of construction project management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing project management teams.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple large-scale projects and teams simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Advanced understanding of project financial management.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, project controls, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Ability to analyze data and drive operational improvements.
  • Strong conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with project management software and Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in commercial mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or industrial construction preferred.
