The Software Platform organization develops the foundational software systems, infrastructure, and tooling that support Nord Quantique’s research, device operation, and broader software ecosystem. Spanning multiple software teams and technical domains, the organization plays a central role in connecting research, hardware, infrastructure, and applications while laying the foundation for future customer-facing products. The Head of Software Platform will guide the long-term evolution of both the organization and the platform itself, working closely with technical leadership across the company to ensure alignment, scalability, and sustainable execution in a rapidly evolving R&D environment. While a strong software engineering background is important, this role is primarily about organizational leadership, technical strategy, and cross-functional coordination. We are looking for someone who can empower technical leaders, build high-performing teams, and help unify the technical direction of a growing software platform organization. The Head of Software Platform will provide leadership at multiple levels: Within the organization — supporting team leads and technical leaders in building effective, collaborative, and resilient software teams; Across Nord Quantique — aligning software strategy and priorities with evolving company needs and long-term roadmap objectives; Outside Nord Quantique — cultivating strategic relationships with external collaborators, research partners, and technology providers. Keys responsibilities: Lead and support a growing Software Platform organization composed of multiple software teams and technical leadership functions. Empower team leads and technical leaders to build effective, collaborative, and high-performing teams. Define and drive the long-term vision and evolution of Nord Quantique’s software platform. Align software priorities and execution with the company’s broader technical roadmap and operational needs. Establish scalable development practices, organizational structures, and coordination processes. Support recruitment, mentorship, and leadership growth across the organization. Collaborate with internal and external partners to anticipate future platform needs and accelerate development efforts. Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Education and experience requirements: Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, physics, or in a related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience leading software development initiatives in an R&D, deep-tech, or technically ambitious industrial environment. Experience scaling and maturing software systems, from early-stage development to stable operational deployment. Experience leading software development across multiple teams or organizational functions. Experience in quantum computing or other advanced scientific or deep-tech environments is considered an asset. Sought expertise and knowledge: Strong understanding of how to structure and scale effective software development organizations. Experience establishing collaborative development practices and healthy engineering processes. Ability to coordinate software initiatives across multiple teams and technical disciplines. Strong systems-thinking skills and ability to maintain a high-level view of complex software ecosystems.
