Sr. Director Digital Strategy, Governance & Transformation - Mars Veterinary Health

LOCATION & SCHEDULE:

Support Office - Vancouver, Full time

COMPENSATION:

$242,400.00 - $378,750.00

This role requires associates to work out of a MVH North America hub location - New York, NY | Vancouver, WA | Santa Monica, CA.

Why This Role Matters:

The Sr. Director, Digital Strategy, Governance & Transformation will serve as a strategic thought partner to the CDIO and Head of Transformation, developing and evolving the strategy, governance, and performance functions across MVH's digital and data portfolio. They will drive alignment between business outcomes, technology investment, and platform/product development. This role will oversee portfolio and financial governance, lead transformation performance management, and act as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including Mars Petcare entities and strategic partners. This role is a hybrid blend of project management to execute transformational change and strategic perspective to envision and create the strategy 2-3 years out.

You Will:

  • Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.

Digital & Data Strategy

  • Define and continuously evolve MVH's group-wide digital and data strategy in close partnership with executive and functional leadership
  • Oversee the end-to-end portfolio governance model, including demand intake, scoping and prioritization of digital / data analytics investments and managing the decision-making process through governance forums, including close alignment with SRO function
  • As a strategic though leader for MVH, stay deeply attuned to external industry, technology and market trends to inform strategy development, enabling MVH to place more disruptive digital and data 'bets'
  • Align technology strategy with clinical, operational, and business goals across MVH's global portfolio

Product & Platform Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the full product and platform portfolio, ensuring value and cost delivery, prioritization, lifecycle management and governance discipline
  • Drive strategic alignment and decision-making across multiple product teams and technology domains
  • Ensure portfolio coherence across clinical, operation and commercial priorities, avoiding fragmentation and duplication

Performance Management

  • Establish and enforce strong financial and value-based rigor across all digital, data and transformation initiatives
  • Ensure each initiative is underpinned by a robust business case, with clearly articulated business pain points, value hypotheses and measurable outcomes
  • Define and monitor KPIs, OKRs, and other outcome metrics that genuinely matter to clinical, operational and financial performance
  • Own value tracking and benefits realization

Budget Ownership & Governance

  • Oversee Transform and Run budget creation and ongoing financial steering.
  • Implement new financial controls (in partnership with Finance), governance mechanisms, and reporting to drive transparency and accountability.
  • Lead the behavioral and operating model shift from decentralized, functional budget ownership to centralized portfolio oversight.
  • Work closely with Global Process Owners (to be appointed) to drive greater standardization in technology choices, anchored in the agreed global macro processes

Third-Party & Partner Governance

  • Partner with the MVH CTO and Head of Data & Analytics to manage strategic third-party relationships, including vendor performance, contractual compliance, and value delivery
  • Oversee sourcing and partnership models to support the digital and data roadmap and shape/evolve partnership and sourcing models to flex capacity and capability in line with the digital and data roadmap

Change & Transformation Management

  • Lead change management strategy and execution, ensuring effective adoption and stakeholder engagement across MVH brands and regions
  • Own and drive clear communication to leadership articulating where investments are being made, why they matter and what trade-offs are required
  • Play an active leadership role in key forums, including SRO forum, GLT and other cross-functional governance bodies

Mars Petcare Relationship Management

  • Support the Head of Transformation in liaising with Mars Petcare entities, aligning MVH's digital strategy with broader group initiatives and governance
  • Represent MVH in cross-entity forums and joint programs, fostering collaboration and shared innovation
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Your Experience Should Include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, or related field is required. MBA or equivalent is preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in digital strategy, portfolio management, or enterprise governance in a complex, multi-brand environment
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing cross-functional technology teams
  • Proven track record of leading transformation programs and delivering measurable outcomes
  • Deep understanding of digital products, platforms, data ecosystems, and enterprise technology
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budget planning and performance tracking.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across C-level and cross-functional teams
  • Experience working within large, matrixed organizations or global corporate groups (experience with Mars is a plus)

Salary range: $242,400 - $378,750

Compensation is determined based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, location, and market competitiveness.
