Job description

Role: Coffee Operations Manager (Confidential)

Location: Raleigh, NC (On-site)

Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Compensation: $62,000 – $70,000 / year (DOE)

A premier, well-established specialty coffee roasting company in the Raleigh area is seeking a hands-on Coffee Operations Manager to lead daily roasting workflows, quality control, and production execution across retail and wholesale channels.

This role combines daily craft drum roasting and floor leadership with high-level professional development. Reporting directly to executive leadership, you will run daily batch schedules, mentor production staff, and conduct sensory cuppings. In your first year, you will also receive direct executive mentorship to build expertise in green coffee sourcing, broker relationships, and food safety systems.

What You Will Do:

  • Oversee daily batch planning, roasting profiles, packaging lines, and inventory tracking.
  • Maintain sensory and quality consistency through routine cuppings across espresso, batch brew, and seasonal offerings.
  • Manage preventive maintenance on roasting equipment and uphold strict food safety and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
  • Supervise, schedule, and train the production crew, baristas, and wholesale accounts.
  • Partner with leadership on green coffee contract tracking, stock management, and margin reviews.

What You Bring:

  • 2–3+ years of experience in specialty coffee production, drum roasting, or operational coffee leadership.
  • Proven proficiency with roast profiling software, sensory evaluation, and production cupping.
  • Experience leading, scheduling, or mentoring team members.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs periodically and work active shifts in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of green coffee purchasing, PCQI/food safety certifications, or SCA credentials is an added plus (trainable on the job).
