Senior Director, Learning Content – CFA Institute

Oversee the development of curricula for the CFA program, CIPM, and the Certificate in ESG Investing. Lead strategic planning, resource allocation, and cross‑functional collaboration while ensuring content aligns with industry standards and learning objectives.

Location and Reporting

May be based in Charlottesville, VA; New York, NY; or London, UK. Reports to the Senior Head, Learning Content.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead the team responsible for the development of CFA Program, CIPM, and Certificate in ESG Investing learning content.
  • Select, manage, evaluate, and guide internal and external contributors (staff, outside authors, reviewers, question writers, and other content developers).
  • Serve a senior editorial role, writing and rewriting learning content, and lead the content creation process.
  • Ensure alignment of CFA Institute program content with the Candidate Body of Knowledge, Education Advisory Committee outputs, and Practice Analysis findings.
  • Develop a rolling three‑year curriculum plan integrating CBOK, certificate programs, emerging competencies, and a longer‑term content development wishlist.
  • Create detailed 12‑month development plans, assessing resources and production capacity.
  • Support and collaborate with research related to Practice Analysis and client‑engagement outreach.
  • Collaborate with teams supporting qualifications and certificates to ensure effective resource allocation across the Learning Content department.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in finance or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of professional investment‑industry experience, including demonstrated competence leading teams.
  • CFA charter is required.
  • Previous instructional‑design experience preferred.
  • Experience as an educator preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate vision and strategy into robust execution plans.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, listening, facilitation).
  • Strong relational and trust‑building skills, capable of working with senior industry professionals and external constituencies.
  • Self‑directed, proactive, high work ethic, strong business acumen, and confidentiality.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Travel

Expected travel 10‑20% of the time.
