Job description

The Pipe/Drainage Forman is responsible for organizing and directing on-site crew work. This position ensures the crews are in compliance with the company's safety program and ensures that the work performed meets or exceeds the quality requirements of the client.
Location
This position works on various job sites in/around Ohio. Extended/overnight travel is required.
Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Completes necessary 2 week look-ahead to plan work with Superintendent(s)
  • Understands and enforces company safety policies
  • Conducts daily JSA to recognize safety hazards associated with the daily tasks and educates crews of hazards
  • Provides oversight direction to crews and/or subcontractors
  • Prepares schedules for needed manpower, materials, equipment and subcontractors
  • Ensures quality of work performed by crews
  • Works with senior foremen and/or superintendents to complete short interval schedules
  • Completes daily timesheets and field reports
  • Ensures crews are working at maximum efficiency during shift hours and leads by example
  • Inspects incoming materials for quality, accuracy, completeness, and contract compliance
  • Works as part of a team with management, supervision, safety, and other personnel
  • Other tasks as assigned

Skills & Requirements
  • Working knowledge and experience with the following pipe/drainage components required:
    • Storm/Sanitary/Sewer
    • Corrugated metal
    • Concrete
    • Fireline
    • HDPE Pipe
    • Trench Boxes for deep excavations
    • Dewatering
    • Box Culverts
    • Headwalls (cast in place and setting)
    • Ability to test water line, sanitary, and manholes
    • Ability to assist in camera inspection
  • Understands plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of safe construction methods and procedures
  • Leadership and management abilities
  • Basic ability to construct (build)
  • Working knowledge of grade checking and understanding of surveying information
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational skills

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Vocational or construction management training a plus
  • 30 Hour OSHA certification
  • First aid/CPR certification
  • Competent Person training
  • 5-8 years of experience in similar type construction
  • Prior crew and subcontractor management experience
