Position Overview
Tier One Trucks is seeking an experienced, versatile, and diagnostic-minded Mechanic to join our team. We specialize in high-quality pre-owned light-to-medium-duty trucks, commercial vans, and box trucks. In this role, you will be the backbone of our reconditioning (recon) pipeline, ensuring every vehicle on our lot is safe, reliable, and front-line ready.

Key Responsibilities
Diagnostics & Repairs
- Perform thorough mechanical inspections and diagnostics on incoming inventory (including light/medium-duty diesel and gas trucks, box trucks, and cargo vans).
- Diagnose and repair drivability issues, electrical malfunctions, brake systems, steering/suspension, and HVAC systems.
- Execute routine maintenance and reconditioning services (oil changes, fluid flushes, tune-ups, tire replacements, and alignments).
- Clearly document all findings, diagnoses, and completed repairs on digital shop management platforms.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and accounted for.
- Execute repairs and replace malfunctioning components, parts and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Remain updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and safety regulations for truck maintenance and repair.
Lot & Workflow Collaboration
- Work closely with the management and detailing teams to prioritize vehicles based on the dealership's reconditioning schedule.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe bay and work environment.
- Assist in ordering parts efficiently to minimize vehicle downtime.
- Other Duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of automotive or commercial truck repair experience. Experience working with light-to-medium-duty trucks (Ford F-Series, Ram HD, Chevy Silverado HD, Isuzu NPR, etc.) is highly preferred.
- Tools: Must possess your own comprehensive set of professional tools required to perform daily repairs.
- License: Valid Arizona Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- General- Strong communication skills, critical thinking skills, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, Time management, self motivated and strong work ethic.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with modern diagnostic scanners and software. Strong understanding of both gas and light diesel engine platforms is a major plus.
- Certifications: ASE certifications are a plus but not required if equivalent experience is demonstrated.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs independently.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work overhead for extended periods.
- Comfort working in a typical shop environment, including managing the Arizona summer climate.
