Job description

POSITION PURPOSE
The Medical Assistant I position is responsible for a variety of patient care, technical, and clerical-related functions under the direction of a physician. The Medical Assistant I is responsible for the clinic-patient flow by assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of healthcare services that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly.
MINIMUM MANDATORY qualifications
Experience:
  • No previous experience required.
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED High School Equivalency Test required.

Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required and maintained throughout employment.
  • Possess a strong professional, personable, and motivational personality that builds strong relationships with patients.
  • Applications include Microsoft Word and Outlook and familiarity with electronic health record systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with practice leadership, physicians, advanced practitioners, colleagues, and other Holy Cross Medical Center (HCMC) and Taos Professional Services (TPS) team members.
