Work Schedule, Hours per week: Varies depending on department needs, 12 hours per week

Pay Range:  $15.34

Position Summary: Aid in the preparation and implementation of a program appropriate for a designated group of young children when assigned to fill in for other staff members at the Hiersteiner Child Development Center (HCDC).

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma and 0-3 years of related experience.
  • Required certifications and pre-employment verifications: Active Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR, Health Assessment and TB Test, Child Development, Signs and Symptoms of Illness, Child Abuse and Neglect Mandated Reporting, Fingerprint Based Background Check. (HCDC will assist in obtaining required certifications within the first 30 days of employment)

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Engage with the children; teach, change diapers and potty train, lead group and outside time, set up meals, conduct rest time, and lead social play activities.
  • Uphold and follow all HCDC, Kansas Department of Health and Environment childcare licensing, the Child and Adult Federal Food Program regulations, and National Association for the Education of Young Children accreditation requirements. 
  • Assist with the implementation of the lesson plans, activities, or classroom activities.
  • Maintain a positive and professional work environment with colleagues and families. 
  • Remain current on Early Childhood Education trends and best practices. 
  • Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment. 
  • Maintain an organized learning environment to maximize student time on tasks.
