Job Summary
The Family Wealth Investment Consultant Manager leads a team of Portfolio Strategists responsible for managing and constructing customized investment portfolios for ultra-high-net-worth clients within a fiduciary framework. This role provides strategic, technical, and people leadership to ensure consistent investment excellence, risk management, and client outcomes across the platform. The Manager operates in a player-coach capacity, balancing team leadership responsibilities with managing a select portfolio of client relationships and providing investment advice. This role partners closely with Client Development leadership and other Family Wealth Segment stakeholders to drive high-quality client strategies, scalable processes, and strong team performance.
Essential Functions
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Family Wealth Portfolio Strategists responsible for managing large, complex discretionary portfolios for ultra-high-net-worth clients.
  • Serve as lead investment advisor on a select book of complex Family Wealth client and prospect engagements.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive investment strategies, including IPS development, asset allocation, and risk management for assigned relationships.
  • Set clear expectations for portfolio construction, risk management, fiduciary adherence, and client service consistency across the team.
  • Serve as a senior investment resource, supporting complex client scenarios, portfolio design decisions, and strategy discussions.
  • Ensure portfolios are designed and managed in accordance with client investment goals, risk tolerance, investment policy statements, and Wealth Segment investment guidance.
  • Oversee implementation of asset allocation strategies utilizing open architecture platforms and approved investment programs.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and risk metrics at a team level; ensure timely reviews, escalations, and adjustments based on market conditions and client needs.
  • Promote collaboration between Portfolio Strategists, Family Wealth Strategists, Fiduciary Advisors, and other Family Wealth partners to deliver coordinated client strategies.
  • Reinforce compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, fiduciary standards, and risk management practices.
  • Provide direct management and performance oversight of a Team Lead responsible for supervising Portfolio Analysts and Associates, ensuring effective delegation, coverage, and workflow execution.
  • Actively contribute to or represent the team in investment committees, governance forums, or internal working groups, as appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively with Wealth leadership regarding team performance, capacity, risks, and strategic opportunities.
  • Ensure strict adherence to fiduciary, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice
  • Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key's clients and Key.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (preferred)
  • OR equivalent experience (required)

Work Experience
  • 10 years of investment management or advisory experience serving ultra-high-net-worth clients. (required)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) (preferred)
  • Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) (preferred)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $128,000.00 - $268,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
