Position Description
Who We Are
Harper Brothers Construction isn't just building infrastructure-we're building what matters most: people, partnerships, and lasting impact. Founded in 2014 by second-generation builders, we bring grit, innovation, and proven expertise to every project we take on.
With operations across Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado, our mobile crews and powerful fleet allow us to go where the work is-and deliver safely, efficiently, and without compromise. At HBC, safety isn't a priority-it's our culture, driving everything we do from the ground up.
The Role
We're looking for a Project Controls professional who thrives on data, accuracy, and impact. In this role, you'll be at the center of our project performance-owning cost tracking, reporting, and analysis that directly drives decision-making across the business.
You won't just track numbers-you'll surface insights, challenge inconsistencies, and help our teams build smarter, faster, and more efficiently.
What You'll Do
Own Project Financial Visibility
  • Track budgets, costs, labor hours, production quantities, and overall project performance
  • Deliver daily and weekly cost reporting with clear, actionable insights
  • Identify cost risks, trends, and variances-and flag issues early to leadership

Drive Cost Accuracy & Accountability
  • Review, validate, and correct cost data to ensure complete accuracy
  • Lead efforts to reconcile discrepancies across systems and reporting tools
  • Support cost allocation and reclassification when errors are identified

Support Forecasting & Strategic Decisions
  • Assist in cost forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning
  • Prepare key data sets for monthly cost reviews, including:
    • Forecasted vs. actual costs
    • Subcontractor and PO status
    • Overruns and performance metrics

Own the Data Behind the Work
  • Support project setup, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontract tracking in Viewpoint
  • Maintain clean, structured, and reliable project data across systems
  • Reconcile time tracking and cost systems to ensure alignment and reporting accuracy

Measure What Matters
  • Track installed quantities, productivity rates, and project progress
  • Support operational performance tracking and efficiency initiatives
  • Help teams understand how the numbers connect to real-world execution

Be a Trusted Partner to Operations
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Division Managers, and field teams
  • Provide clear, organized data that supports faster, smarter decision-making
  • Play a key role in driving consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement

Position Requirements
What You Bring
  • 3-5+ years of experience in construction project controls, cost analysis, or similar role
  • Background in heavy civil, infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects preferred
  • Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting, and project financials
  • Experience with tools like Viewpoint, HCSS, Excel, and/or Power BI
  • High attention to detail with sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate data into insights that drive action

Why HBC?
At Harper Brothers Construction, you're not just supporting projects-you're helping shape them.
  • Work on impactful infrastructure projects across multi-states
  • Be part of a high-performance, team-first culture
  • Gain real visibility into project strategy and execution
  • Grow your career in a company that values ownership and results
