Job description

William A. Hazel, Inc., a total site development contractor for over 60 years, is seeking an Area Construction Manager to join our team. This is one of the construction office jobs we are now hiring for, responsible for leading and overseeing a project management team responsible for a variety of large and occasionally small-scale construction projects. This leadership role is critical in ensuring project success, meeting financial and operational goals, and fostering strong client relationships.
Essential Functions
  • Provide guidance and oversight to project managers and job/crew superintendents through frequent site visits.
  • Assist with resolving conflicts involving customers, subcontractors, and municipal authorities.
  • Collaborate on implementation and interpretation of company safety programs.
  • Monitor productivity, budget, and scheduling performance to meet company and client expectations.
  • Lead regular meetings with project teams and executive management to align progress and resolve challenges.
  • Develop succession plans and identify internal or external candidates for key team roles.
  • Maintain positive client relationships through consistent communication and professionalism.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contract scope, design, budget, and timeline.

Requirements
Minimum 15 years of experience in construction project management or a similar leadership role.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and personnel.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Skilled in conflict resolution and customer engagement.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
