Job Description:

Under supervision, the Building Inspector (Special Hazards) is responsible for inspecting facilities and construction sites that involve hazardous materials, high-risk operations, or specialized systems.

Inspect specialized systems such as gas detection, fire suppression, hazardous exhaust, explosion control, and containment systems.

Verify compliance with applicable codes and regulations, such NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and local ordinances.

Inspects Racetracks for compliance with the codes, rules and regulations.

Investigate incidents, complaints, or violations involving hazardous materials or unsafe practices.

Issue correction notices, citations, or stop-work orders when necessary; ensure timely follow-up and compliance.

Collaborate with fire departments, environmental health agencies, and emergency response teams to assess and mitigate risks.

Maintain detailed records of inspections, findings, and enforcement actions using inspection software and databases.

Stay updated with emerging codes, technologies, and materials relevant to hazardous operations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Safety & Complnc Spec 1 (RCP010) or position equivalent.--Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.--Note: Some positions may require certification and/or licensure.
