Job Description

The PW position is an entry level position in the packaging plant.  Responsibilities include supplying packaging materials to the production lines, inspecting for quality defects, minor operating and troubleshooting of basic equipment and general housekeeping.

  1. Supplying packaging materials to the production lines—completion of lot tracking paperwork, inventory tracking/counting, complaint forms for damaged/out of spec materials, inspection of materials
  2. Operation of box erector, bag inserter and placing jugs on the line—includes supplying equipment with materials, troubleshooting and making basic mechanical adjustments to equipment
  3. Operation of cube line fillers, scales and the bag tucker
  4. Maintain and perform housekeeping responsibilities in assigned areas
  5. Follow all safety and environmental rules and regulations applicable to position.
  6. Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP requirements
  7. Rotating shift position (1st, 2nd, 3rd)
  8. Performs additional duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications

Education:  Minimum of high school diploma or GED required. 

Relevant Experience:  Experience in food preparation or industrial setting preferred

Equipment/Software Skills:  Position requires basic computer operation skills, i.e. use of “point and click” programs

Certifications, Licenses, RegistrationsForklift/Industrial Truck certification preferred

Competencies:

  1. Must be able to read/write/speak English, must be able to do basic arithmetic.
  2. Must be able to write clearly
  3. Must be able to communicate with other employees in a clear and professional manner

Additional Information

Physical:  Ability to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time while performing job duties.  Must be capable of working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and must be able to wear a respirator.

Sensory: 

Mental/Reasoning: Must be able to analyze information quickly to provide feedback in the manufacturing process and troubleshoot equipment failures
