Internship Overview

Make your mark on Hawaii's future with the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART). Join our team as a business intern and gain hands-on experience working alongside professionals in key areas such as business operations, finance, marketing, human resources, and project management.

This internship offers practical resume-building experience and helps to develop teamwork and communications skills valued by employers. Working closely with experienced professionals who share valuable career insights, you will build meaningful connections for future opportunities and gain hands-on exposure to real-world challenges while contributing to how people navigate and experience Honolulu's business environment. Your involvement with the Honolulu Rail Transit Project (Skyline) will provide a unique insight into government operations and demonstrate how infrastructure development enhances community connectivity and accessibility across the island.

What You'll Do

  • Support day-to-day activities in different business units.
  • Assist with data analysis, process documentation, business systems functions, human resources activities, and financial reporting, budgeting, and accounting responsibilities.
  • Participate in team meetings, contribute to projects, and assist with administrative duties across departments.
  • Gain insight into core business applications and information systems

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a business majors student, either undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Completion of at least one year of post-secondary coursework preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Self-motivated and able to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Schedule

  • Part-time (up to 19 hours per week) during the academic year.
  • Full- or part-time options available during the summer
