Job description

At Wizards of the Coast, we connect people around the world through play and imagination. From our genre-defining games like Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons to our growing multiverse, we continue to innovate and build new ways to foster friendship and connection. That's where you come in!

The Director of Cloud Infrastructure & Engineering leads Hasbro's critical infrastructure transformation: moving completely from on-premises data centers to AWS. This role also involves implementing cloud-native security to enable active detection and response. It is an enterprise-wide position supporting Hasbro and its studios, including Wizards of the Coast.

Reporting to the VP of Infrastructure Engineering and Operations, this is a senior leadership role. You will be responsible for Cloud Platform Engineering, Data Center Services, and Site Reliability Engineering. You will run the associated P&Ls and FinOps subject area. You will also lead the governance model for a rapidly growing AWS environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Cloud Platform, Strategy & Reliability

  • Define and own the multi-year cloud strategy and roadmap. This includes target-state architecture and hybrid/multi-cloud posture. Establish cloud as an internal product with clear SLAs and a self-service, paved-road platform model.
  • Own the on-premises to AWS migration end to end, holding the organization accountable to achievements and business outcomes.
  • Own the retained data centers. Manage planning, contract posture, and daily operations through and beyond the migration. This ensures the hybrid estate runs as one platform, not two.
  • Lead a customer-first platform organization: develop secure, well-managed, modular elements built to accelerate studio and partner engineering teams,
  • Establish Site Reliability Engineering as a new field. Define the operating model and charter, then develop it: SLOs, error budgets, incident management, on-call maturity, and DR/BCP for cloud-hosted workloads.

Account Management & Oversight (in collaboration with Cybersecurity)

  • Own the development and day-to-day operation of the AWS multi-account structure, including organizational units, account vending, and Landing Zone/Control Tower guardrails, as accounts scale through the data center migration.
  • Define and enforce account lifecycle policies: provisioning, tagging standards, ownership assignment, decommissioning, and access review.
  • Maintain a governance framework aligned with the AWS Well-Architected Framework, focusing on the Cost Optimization and Security pillars. Audit accounts for drift and collaborate with your teams to address issues.
  • Own Service Control Policies, tagging enforcement, and account-level compliance reporting as a durable operating approach in this field, not a one-time cleanup.
  • Collaborate with the Hasbro Cybersecurity and Identity teams to strengthen cloud security posture across guardrails, CSPM, and Defender for Cloud, and advance the implementation of an active SIEM, including analytic rules, KQL detections, and automated response.
  • Partner with Network and Identity leadership to develop Zero Trust at the cloud edge, integrating user-based policy with cloud network controls.

FinOps & Cost Management

  • Own the cloud P&L, handling a multi-year program budget.
  • Establish and lead the FinOps operating rhythm: cost allocation, showback to business units and studio teams, forecasting, and variance reporting.
  • Be responsible for the lifecycle of commitment-based discounts, including coverage, utilization, and renewal strategy, to improve savings without over-committing.
  • Establish unit economics for cloud-hosted workloads (cost per environment, per service, per studio) so engineering and business collaborators can understand cost-to-value tradeoffs.
  • Identify and promote optimization opportunities such as rightsizing, idle resource cleanup, and architecture changes, in collaboration with studio and partner engineering teams.

Vendor & Collaboration Management

  • Own the AWS partner relationship: enterprise agreement terms, credits, support for blocking issues, and roadmap alignment.
  • Partner with Finance and Procurement on budget planning, invoice reconciliation, and true-up processes tied to the multi-year migration budget.
  • Act as the governance and cost point of contact for studio engineering teams.
  • Serve as the executive-facing owner of cloud, delivering VP reporting on account health, governance posture, and cost trends, with cross-functional roadmap alignment across Identity, Network, Cybersecurity, Finance, Central Tech, and studio engineering.

Team Developement

  • Build and develop a layer of cloud architects and subject-matter experts across cloud providers, governance, compliance, and security.
  • Build, mentor, and develop a management and principal engineer layer across Cloud Platform Engineering, Cloud Security Operations, and SRE or equivalent experience; own organizational structure, headcount, hiring, and performance.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • 10+ years of infrastructure and cloud engineering, with 5+ years leading teams, including experience managing managers.
  • A proven track record owning enterprise-scale AWS environments and delivering a large-scale data center to cloud migration end-to-end.
  • Deep AWS platform proficiency and demonstrated governance ownership at scale, across Landing Zone, Control Tower, multi-account structure and guardrails, tagging and policy enforcement, Well-Architected-aligned auditing, EKS, cloud networking, and AWS IAM Identity Center.
  • Demonstrated FinOps leadership, having owned a multi-million-dollar cloud budget and driven measurable unit-cost improvement.
  • Platform engineering leader with a customer-centered approach, having developed secure and well-controlled reusable components that noticeably improved the teams you assist, in an organization that puts internal customers' needs first rather than directing them.
  • Experience building and scaling engineering organizations. This includes composing org structure, hiring, and developing leaders below you. You will mature functions that did not previously exist. You have the executive presence to translate infrastructure risk and investment into business language at the VP level.
  • A security-forward approach, having partnered with cybersecurity and identity organizations to harden a cloud estate and operationalize detection and response.

NICE TO HAVE

  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional; FinOps Certified Professional.
  • Practical experience in implementing Microsoft Sentinel and Defender for Cloud.
  • Site Reliability Engineering organization expansion focusing on SLOs, error budgets, and on-call maturity.
  • Exposure to Zero Trust and SASE architectures and cloud access based on user verification.
  • Experience in a multi-studio, multi-BU entertainment or gaming enterprise environment.
