Summary

This positionis performedin a productionteamsupporting the development, integration, and deployment of training systems. Responsibilities include networking, interfacing with platform simulation applications, software design, troubleshooting, andproductlevel integration. The role works under the general direction of lead engineers, requires minimal supervision, and contributes to the full software implementation lifecycle within the Training System Support Center (TSSC). Engineering solutions must be imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organizational standards andobjectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs hands-on engineering tasks within a production team environment, supporting development and deployment of training systems, networking components, and simulation system interfaces.
Completes assigned tasks with general technical direction from lead engineers whilemaintainingaccountability for quality, timeliness, and adherence to technical processes.
Communicates project status, technical issues, risks, and recommended solutions to lead engineers and project stakeholders in a clear and proactive manner.
Designs,modifies, develops, writes, and implements software applications and tools used within simulation environments.
Supports, installs, and troubleshoots software applications, operating systems, and simulation system components.
Participatesin the full software engineering lifecycle from requirements analysis and design through integration, implementation, testing, and deployment.
Provides technical support for TSSC engineering activities across assigned projects, ensuring alignment with program requirements and organizational engineering standards.
Diagnoses productlevel issues and performs troubleshooting to restore application functionality and system performance.
Develops practical and innovative software solutions consistent with engineering best practices, organizationalobjectives, and established processes.
Creates andmaintainsaccuratetechnical documentation, including software specifications, installation guides, test procedures, and supportmaterials.
Collaborates effectively withcross-functionalengineering teams to support system integration, software updates, and training system enhancements.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent work experience may be considered.
2-4 years of experience in software development, system integration, or technical support roles.
Foundational knowledge of software engineering practices, debugging techniques, and application development.
Ability to follow engineering guidance and work efficiently with general direction.
Familiarity with operating systems, networking fundamentals, and software installation processes.
Strong analytical capabilities andproblem-solvingskills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting status, documenting work, and interacting with engineering leads.
Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and work in a teambased, collaborative environment.

Preferred Skills

Experience with simulation systems, training devices, ordefenserelatedengineering projects.
Knowledge of system integration practices and interfacing with simulation platform applications.
Experience with software version control tools, configuration management, or structured development environments.
Understanding of distributed systems, networking protocols, or simulation networking middleware.
Experience writing technical documentation or support materials.
Ability to troubleshoot complex software interactions and recommend effective solutions.

Work Environment

Work is primarily performed in a software development or engineering lab environment, with occasional time spent in simulator bays or training device areas.


Regular interaction with software engineers, integration specialists, testers, and project leads.
Fast-paced, collaborative environment with multiple projects occurring simultaneously.
Use of computers, engineering tools, development equipment, and simulators daily.
Occasional travel may berequiredfor onsite support or training system deployment activities.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods whileoperatinga computer or performing engineering tasks.
Ability to conduct walkthroughs of simulator areas, training facilities, and engineering labs as needed.
May require lifting or moving small equipment or components (up to approximately 25lbs).
