Lead Commercial Door & Hardware Technician

$38-$45+/Hour DOE

Lead Commercial Door & Hardware Technician

We're looking for a true commercial door professional, not simply someone who can install doors.

This individual should have advanced knowledge of commercial openings, architectural hardware, electrified hardware, access control preparations, troubleshooting, field leadership, and project execution.

The ideal candidate can step onto a jobsite, read the plans, identify issues before they become problems, organize the work, communicate with Project Managers and General Contractors, and successfully lead a crew from start to finish.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial door and hardware experience preferred
• Extensive experience with:
• Hollow metal doors
• Hollow metal frames
• Architectural hardware
• Electrified openings
• Access control door hardware
• Fire-rated openings
• Ability to read and interpret:
• Floor plans
• Blueprints
• Door schedules
• Hardware schedules
• Shop drawings
• Project specifications
• Strong understanding of door handing and hardware applications
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to train and mentor technicians
• Ability to lead projects with minimal supervision

The Lead Technician must be able to:

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from kickoff through completion
• Coordinate field activities with Project Managers and General Contractors
• Review plans, schedules, specifications, and project requirements
• Delegate work appropriately and efficiently
• Train and mentor technicians
• Troubleshoot field conditions and develop solutions
• Ensure projects are completed safely, professionally, and on schedule
• Maintain accurate documentation and punch-list completion
• Ensure installations meet company, manufacturer, and project standards

Employment Requirements

• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with customers, coworkers, project management, inspectors, and general contractors.
• Must be able to understand and communicate jobsite instructions, plans, schedules, specifications, and safety requirements.
• If English is not your primary language, you must be willing and able to utilize available technology, including real-time translation tools, to ensure clear and effective communication at all times.
• Must be able to safely perform the physical demands of the position.
• Must be dependable, willing to learn, take direction, and maintain a professional attitude.
• Must be able to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
