We are seeking experienced Thermal/Mechanical Engineers to build the next generation of our cloud platforms. What you will do: As a member of the Hardware Engineering Mechanical/Thermal/Robotics (MTR) Engineering team you'll be responsible for the design of our server platforms. You'll provide leadership in the application of new cooling and mechanical technologies to large scale server deployments in a continuous effort to deliver a world-class customer experience. You will work on server designs that enable automated assembly to increase throughput. This is a fast-paced, challenging position, and you'll work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. You'll have relentlessly high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, and you'll be constantly looking for ways to improve your products performance, quality and cost. You'll need to understand when a change in technology enables a completely different way of approaching server design. You will demonstrate a working knowledge of mechanical and thermal systems, with experience in systems integration of complex server products. You will work on designs that enable automated assembly of servers. You'll have the desire to learn from new challenges and the problem solving and communication skills to work within a highly interactive and experienced team. Candidates must show a hands-on passion for their work and be able to communicate their ideas and concepts both verbally, and visually. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to integrate feedback and to respond quickly to changing contexts and work environments.

* Perform mechanical and thermal design and development for complex electronic systems
* Design and validate systems and subsystems to meet program objectives
* Participate in the cross-discipline design process working with other HW and SW team members to develop optimized integrated solutions
* Conduct failure analysis and solution validation for product development and fleet systems
* Manage interaction with overseas resources
* Provide mentorship and technical reviews to a team of mechanical/thermal design engineers
* Assess server designs for automated assembly, design for automation and throughput efficiency.
A day in the life
The average week is a mixture of using engineering tools (CAD and thermal simulation), data analysis, meetings (internal and vendors), test report reviews, design reviews, and communicating via tickets or emails to make design and project decisions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 7 years experience in thermal and mechanical design of server technologies or equivalent technology
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 9 years experience in thermal and mechanical design of server technologies or equivalent technology
- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- Experience with thermal analysis tools such as CFD (e.g., Flotherm, ANSYS Icepak, or similar)
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo/ProE)
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
- Experience in systems integration of complex server products
- Expertise or familiarity with automation and design for automated assembly.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
