Vermont Cider Company is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cellar Operator to join our growing production team in Middlebury, VT.   This role is an excellent opportunity to contribute directly to fermentation and blending operations while working in a safety-driven, quality-focused manufacturing environment.

  

The ideal candidate is reliable, proactive, and eager to learn and support high-quality beverage production from tank to finished product. 


Schedule:

  • Monday-Thursday
  • 10-hour shifts
  • 1st Shift

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned) 

  • Build fermentation blends and product blends by interpreting recipe sheets and adding appropriate materials.
  • Disassembly and reassembly of Cellar equipment for purposes of cleaning and sanitizing using both COP and CIP procedures.
  • Perform CIP of cellar equipment.
  • Deliver analytical samples to Quality Control for analysis.
  • Perform environmental cleaning in fermentation and blend tank areas.
  • Complete basic preventive maintenance related to cellar operations.
  • Perform general equipment repairs as directed by the Cellar Manager
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times.
  • Comply with all safety requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED 

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to learn and demonstrate a working understanding of fermentation and blending processes within 6 months.
  • Basic math and English skills.
  • Ability to navigate control screens to initiate and stop CIP operations.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues impacting cellar processes.
  • Basic project management skills to complete assigned work as directed by supervisor.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Routinely lift up to 50 pounds
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals.
  • Safely climb ladders and perform work at the top of fermentation and blend tanks.
  • Regular exposure to cleaning and production-line CIP chemicals
  • Light maintenance work in a mechanical production setting
  • Work requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working on concrete floors.
