Job description

Steel and Precast Erection Foreman
Run the field for one of Journey Structural's erection crews. You will lead the people, the plan, and the day - schools, hospitals, distribution centers, and commercial work across the Sioux Falls region. You will work alongside the crew when the job calls for it, and you will own the safety, quality, and pace of every shift. Day work. Home every night.
What You Will Do
  • Lead daily field operations: coordinate crews, materials, and equipment to keep the schedule on track and adjust when conditions change.
  • Delegate the work and hold the team accountable to the plan and the standard.
  • Work alongside the crew on craftsperson tasks when needed. Stay close to the work.
  • Own safety in the field. Lead the daily JHA, run a clean and organized site, and hold the line when shortcuts get tempting.
  • Run the tool trailer or gang box. Keep the right tools and resources on hand and accounted for.
  • Develop the team. Coach skill development, build commitment, and identify the next foreman before you need to.
  • Help build erection schedules and manpower forecasts for upcoming work.
  • Collaborate with the design team during shop drawing review to find effective ways to put the work in place.
  • Coordinate inspections with third parties and local jurisdictions.
  • Maintain daily reports of activity on the job site.

What You Bring
  • Five years of steel or precast erection experience, with team leadership experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current certifications, or the ability to earn them, in: OSHA 10 or 30, OSHA Subpart R, Rigger / Signalman, AWS welding. Equipment certifications such as aerial platform, telehandler, and skid loader are a plus.
  • Strong field communication skills - written, verbal, and on the radio.
  • Planning and organizational instincts. Can run multiple priorities under pressure and hit deadlines.
  • Customer focus. You can handle conversations with the GC, the design team, and the crew with equal ease.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office. Bluebeam and Primavera P6 experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required. Class A CDL and medical card preferred.
  • Must be 18 or older to safely work in a construction environment.

Compensation
Sign-on and referral bonuses available.
What You Get
  • Day work close to home. Projects in and around the Sioux Falls region. No road weeks.
  • 401(k) with safe harbor match up to 4% of pay. Fully vested the day it lands in your account. Eligible after six months.
  • HSA match of $1.50 for every $1 you contribute. Up to $750 individual or $1,500 family annually.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage starting 30 days after hire. Three medical plan options through Avera Health Plans, plus a wellness credit of up to $20 per week.
  • Short-term and long-term disability and life and AD&D insurance at no cost to you.
  • Annual boot voucher and a $250 to $350 prescription safety eyewear allowance. Discounted gym memberships at Avera and GreatLIFE.
  • Employee Assistance Program at no cost to you and your household.
  • Paid time off and holidays, paid certifications and continuing training, tuition assistance, sign-on or referral bonus.
