Job Description

Falcon Steel is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious Material Handler to join our production team in Springfield. In this role, you will be the backbone of our shop floor, ensuring that our fabrication teams—including press brake operators and welders—have the materials they need exactly when they need them.

The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment, possesses a "safety-first" mindset, and takes pride in maintaining an organized, efficient workspace. At Falcon Steel, we value hard work and offer clear pathways for those looking to transition into specialized roles like machine operation or welding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Material Movement: Safely load and unload steel coils, plates, and structural components from trucks using forklifts, overhead cranes, or side-loaders.
  • Production Support: Deliver specific raw materials to machine stations (Press Brakes, Lasers, Saws) and remove finished parts for staging.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in performing cycle counts, labeling incoming stock, and organizing the yard or warehouse to maximize space.
  • Quality & Safety: Inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies against packing slips; maintain a clean, hazard-free work area.
  • Physical Assistance: Act as a "second pair of hands" for machine operators when moving large or heavy oversized sheets during the fabrication process.

Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years in a warehouse, manufacturing, or construction environment (steel industry experience is a major plus).
  • Equipment Skills: Prior experience operating a sit-down forklift is required. Experience with overhead bridge cranes is highly preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs consistently and stand/walk for the duration of an 8–10 hour shift in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Technical Skills: Basic math skills and the ability to read a tape measure to 1/16th of an inch.
  • Reliability: Strong attendance record and a valid driver's license.

Schedule and Pay
  • Shift: Full time
    • 2nd Shift 3pm-11:30pm (may shift due to heat)
  • Pay: $17-18/hr

Benefits Offered:
  • Health Coverage: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans. Also offers a Health Saving Account (HSA).
  • Retirement: Safe Harbor 401(k) plan with a dedicated wealth advisor.
