Essential Functions:

Under the supervision of the Facilities/Transportation Mgr. and Center Director, the Bus Driver will work within the framework of Harbor Child Care, carrying out its functions, policies and procedures. The Bus Driver must possess a CDL license and be able to lift up to 20lbs. The Bus Driver must perform maintenance tasks as assigned throughout all Harbor centers.

  1. Reports to School Age Director, Coordinator of Facilities and Maintenance and CFO carrying out tasks as assigned.
  2. Must be physically capable to lift and carry car seats and other items weighing up to 20lbs.
  3. Operates a school mini-bus to transport children to and from school and on field trips.
  4. Drives safely and carefully adhering to Dept. of Transportation guidelines to protect children riding the bus as well as NYS OCFS regulations.
  5. Ability to follow directions and knowledgeable about bus routes/directions.
  6. Courteous to staff and children
  7. Attends Staff Trainings as needed
  8. Keeps a professional, neat and clean appearance
  9. Completes "Bus Maintenance Record" prior to trips and at the end of trips
  10. Provides support to Teacher in accurately accounting for pickup and drop-off of children at schools
  11. Responsible for ensuring that the bus is in good repair by checking seat belts, brakes, etc. and bring major repair issues to the attention of the Facilities/Transportation Mgr.
  12. Refuels the bus when necessary
  13. Keeps accurate bus records/log book
  14. Performs handyman duties as needed
  15. Assists in cartage of supplies and equipment
  16. Sets up or removes furniture for special events
  17. Be available to care for children in the event of an emergency or unusual number of teacher absences and available to perform any other reasonable duty as needed for the cohesive operation of the child care center.
Qualifications

CDL Driver Requirements:

  • MUST HAVE VALID NYS CDL Class A, B or C driver's license with Passenger Endorsement.
  • Selected applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must be able to obtain 19A certification.
