Job description

Croton-Harmon Union Free School District is seeking a dedicated and collaborativeย Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our district occupational therapy team. This part-time position will provide support primarily at the elementary level while working collaboratively with students, families, educators, and related service providers to promote student success and independence within the school environment.

Position Details

  • Position: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
  • Location: District-Wide (Elementary School Focus)
  • Schedule: Part-Time, 14 hours per week
  • Compensation:ย $39.00 per hour

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA will:

  • Provide occupational therapy services and supports in accordance with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Implement occupational therapy interventions for individual students and small groups.
  • Conduct handwriting groups and support the development of fine motor, visual-motor, and written expression skills.
  • Collect and analyze student performance data to monitor progress and inform instructional and therapeutic decisions.
  • Assist with occupational therapy evaluations and participate in the evaluation process as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Participate as a member of the Committee on Special Education (CSE), providing input regarding student needs, progress, recommendations, and related services.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, administrators, families, and related service providers to support student programming.
  • Provide recommendations regarding classroom strategies, accommodations, sensory supports, and adaptive tools.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of services, progress monitoring, and required records in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.

Qualifications

  • Current New York State licensure as aย Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
  • Experience working with school-aged children preferred.
  • Knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy practices, including fine motor development, handwriting, sensory processing, and school-based interventions.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.
