Job description

Description:

Performs all traditional warehouse duties: Operating a sit down and stand-up forklift, shipping, receiving, restocking, picking orders, loading trucks, unloading trucks, housekeeping duties. Also fills in as a backup driver during driver absences and/or additional delivery routes. When fulfilling the driver portion of the position, will drive a box truck delivering materials to and from customer shops and job sites. This position will be required to perform the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Drives truck to destination providing accurate, timely and courteous service.
  • Collects signature for goods delivered.
  • Collects payment for goods delivered if required following proper procedures with COD/cash deliveries.
  • Maintains driver logbook or ELD device, trip reports, fuel tickets, toll tickets, vehicle condition reports to comply with state and federal regulations.
  • Operates truck following all safety policies, laws, maintains safe driving record, and notifies supervisor of any violations.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
  • Conducts pre-trip inspections per regulations/policy.
  • Secures load using runners, boards, ratchet straps, chains, binders around items to secure cargo during transit.
  • Ensures proper load stability and balance.
  • Assists in loading of trucks as needed.
  • Recommends optimal delivery route to assure quick delivery and timely service to customers.
  • Observes all company safety practices and procedure.
  • Presents professional images in appearance and behavior with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Accurately verifies items and quantities during delivery.
  • Reports and documents all delivery variances.
  • When not assigned to fill the role of delivery driver, will perform material handler and warehouse duties which include receiving, verifying, and checking delivered material, restocking, picking orders, palletizing orders, staging orders, loading trucks, unloading trucks, operating sit down and standup forklifts, WMS RF scanning device and normal housekeeping duties.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
  • Palletizes materials on to pallets and shrink wraps or bands material securely on pallet.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, cleans work area, machines, and equipment.
  • Operates sit down forklifts, standup electric lifts, moffets, pallet jacks, hand trucks, carts, to assist in loading or moving materials and products; moves levers and presses peals to drive lift and control movement of lifting apparatus.
  • Ensures products are handled in accordance to established standards.
  • Loads, unloads, straightens, and organizes product and warehouse.
  • Controls and accounts for materials to minimize loss and damage.
  • Responsible for staging, transporting, shipping, or returning products into and out of the warehouse.
  • Some data entry computer work required.
  • Utilizes state of the art WMS radio frequency bar code scanning technology software and hardware

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Must be eligible to complete certification and be licensed to operate forklift and regularly keep up to date with any changes in the requirements. Must have current driverโ€™s license.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes of airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The warehouse space is not climate controlled.
