Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
The Manager, Inspections is directly responsible for the operation of the Quality Control department on the shift assigned.  The Inspection Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements, managing costs/labor budgets, and delivering a quality product on time.  The Inspection Manager is accountable to the Director of Quality Control/Chief Inspector for performing daily maintenance and/or repair assignments in a timely, accurate and professional manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1.Oversee and coordinate with the Inspector Leads in directing, planning and laying out details of inspection standards, methods and procedures used by the repair station in complying with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and manufacturer’s specifications.
2.Promote a culture of safety by monitoring self and others to assure all duties are performed within the guidelines as specified by the HAECO Safety Manual ex. Confined Space, lock out-tag out (LOTO), etc.
3.Complete general surveillance of all activities and, in particular, the Inspector Leads to ensure behaviors and practices that foster compliance are utilized and Inspectors are engaged in the process. 
4.Oversee overall day-to-day Inspection operations and operating results.
5.Ensure aircraft and surrounding areas are in a safe condition for the work being assigned. 
6.Evaluate and develop Inspector Leads.
7.Ensure proper scheduling of manpower and proper skill levels for all inspections functions through coordination with the Project and Quality Management. 
8.Manage operations in the most effective manner eliminated waste and improving productivity. 
9.Coordinate with other repair station departments as needed to ensure a continuous and smooth workflow and redirect efforts as necessary.
10.Resolve disputes pertaining to production regarding quality and compliance and providing related assistance and counsel as needed.
11.Ensure mandatory reporting requirements are met in accordance with air carrier and/or FAA requirements.
12.Provide quality oversight and direct interface with the Project Manager to ensure adequate inspection coverage.
13.Attend customer and company work coordination and status meetings, as required. 
14.Maintain constant awareness of aircraft delivery requirements to ensure aircraft are delivered in a time manner and without jeopardizing quality or airworthiness requirements. 
15.Maintain constant awareness of aircraft induction schedules to ensure adequate inspection coverage during primary inspections. 
16.Collect and report to the Director of QC/Chief Inspector all shift performance data in the area of quality, compliance, cost and schedule. 
17.Provide guidance and leadership to Inspector Leads on assigned shift. 
18.Provide conflict resolution between inspection and other departments on assigned shift. 
19.Assure that all inspection personnel are treated equally and fairly and in accordance with the HAECO Human Resources policies and procedures. 
20.Administer disciplinary action to assigned personnel, as appropriate and required, in accordance with the HAECO Human Resources policies and procedures.
21.Correct time keeping errors for assigned personnel as required.
22.Implement and monitor strategic company and department initiatives as required and directed. 
23.Investigate, validate, and develop root cause analysis based on corrective actions for all “late finds” identified on assigned shift. 
24.Investigate, validate, and develop root cause analysis based on corrective actions for internal and external audit findings identified on assigned shift. 
25.Assure all aircraft work document errors for assigned inspectors are corrected in a timely manner. 
26.Ensure nondestructive test (NDT) inspections are coordinated and scheduled as required
27.Be responsible for control and disposition of life limited scrap parts of assigned programs, overall responsibility remains with the Director of Maintenance Operations.
28.Make final airworthiness decisions on behalf of the repair station and those decisions represent the position of the repair station during the Director of Quality Control/Chief Inspector’s absence.
29.Ascertain all inspections are properly performed on all completed work before it is released to the owner/operator and proper inspection records, reports, and forms used by the repair station are properly executed
30.Ensure accountability to conduct themselves within all guidelines of company, FAA, and customer policies, work rules, and regulations (ex. Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), Airworthiness Agreements), etc.
31.Be authorized to act on behalf of the repair station.
32.Assist in the training of other employees as well as assisting them in the performance of their job assignments through coaching, counseling, and guidance.
33.Act as the Director of Quality Control/Chief Inspector when required and if qualified.
34.Interface effectively with members of management, other departments and co-workers.
35.Keep own and adjacent work area clean.
36.Perform other work as instructed by the Director of Quality Control/Chief Inspector.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM:
1. High School diploma or equivalent
2. FAA Airframe & Powerplant certificate
3. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with a wide variety of people.
4. Must have a valid driver's license
5. Have a thorough understanding of FAR parts 21, 43, 65, 121, 125, & 145
6. Seven (7) or more years of experience as a technician and/or Inspector on large commercial aircraft plus supervisor experience
7. Intermediate knowledge in computers and typical business software including but not limited to Microsoft Office and MAJIC/SYMAN.
8. Must have the ability to lead people and accept responsibility
9. Language (read, write, and understand English)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1.Subject to noises in excess of 85 dB

6.Capable of lifting fifty (50) pounds
7.Minimum visual acuity of 20/40 corrected
8.Must be enrolled in a Department of Transportation approved random drug and alcohol testing program
9.Be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and/or stand for prolonged periods of time and climb ladders and/or service stands
