MRA Law Group is a rapidly scaling U.S. immigration law firm serving complex, high-impact cases across removal defense, humanitarian relief, and family-based immigration. We are seeking a Managing Attorney to lead legal operations, set case strategy, and ensure excellence, compliance, and consistency across the firm.
This role is for an experienced immigration attorney who can think strategically, lead decisively, and protect both clients and the firm—while building systems that scale.
What You’ll Be Responsible ForLegal Oversight & Case Strategy
- Serve as the firm’s senior legal authority across all immigration matters
- Provide strategic direction and legal guidance to attorneys and paralegals
- Review and approve complex filings, motions, briefs, and litigation strategies
- Oversee removal defense cases including master calendar hearings, individual hearings, bond hearings, and post-order motions
- Monitor changes in immigration law, policy guidance, and case law impacting firm practice areas
- Ensure strict compliance with ethical standards, professional conduct rules, and unauthorized practice of law (UPL) regulations
Workflow, Operations & Quality Control
- Oversee firmwide case progression to ensure timely preparation, filing, and follow-through
- Approve and maintain legal SOPs, workflows, templates, and internal policies
- Ensure effective use of case management systems, calendars, and deadline controls
- Manage attorney caseload distribution based on complexity, risk, and capacity
- Establish protocols for urgent matters including detention, expedited removals, and humanitarian emergencies
- Continuously refine legal operations to support growth without sacrificing quality
Client Experience & Risk Management
- Handle escalated client concerns with professionalism, clarity, and empathy
- Ensure clients receive accurate expectations, timely updates, and transparent guidance
- Lead initiatives to improve client trust, retention, and overall experience
- Provide compassionate, trauma-informed communication for vulnerable clients facing removal, asylum denials, or detention
- Safeguard the firm against reputational, ethical, and procedural risk
Required Experience & Subject-Matter StrengthLitigation & Removal Defense
- Extensive Immigration Court experience (contested proceedings required)
- Strong record of appearances in master calendar and individual hearings
- Experience with cancellation of removal (LPR and non-LPR) and hardship analysis
- Advanced motions practice including reopening, reconsideration, and stays
- BIA practice: appeals, motions, and administrative closure
- Federal litigation exposure including habeas, mandamus, and stays of removal
- Detention-related advocacy including custody redeterminations and ICE check-ins
Humanitarian Immigration
- Deep expertise in asylum law (affirmative and defensive), nexus analysis, PSG development, and country conditions
- VAWA self-petitions, including evidentiary strategy and statutory standards
- U and T Visa cases, including law enforcement coordination and certification processes
- SIJS cases involving state court coordination and dependency findings
- TPS, deferred action, humanitarian parole, and prosecutorial discretion
General Immigration Practice
- Family-based immigration (I-130, I-485, I-864)
- Waivers (I-601 / I-601A)
- Consular processing and NVC procedures
- Naturalization (N-400) with complex eligibility issues
- Familiarity with employment-based immigration
- Travel documents, reentry permits, and post-grant filings
