Job description

We are seeking a professional, career-oriented individual with a strong work ethic, a commitment to quality, and a desire to build a long-term career with Tru-Connect & MSB Consulting Engineers.

The Audio-Visual (AV) Systems Installation Technician installs and supports audio, video, and control systems in various environments such as corporate boardrooms, classrooms, conference centers, and public venues. This position involves interpreting system schematics, pulling and terminating cables, mounting equipment, and ensuring a fully functional AV system is delivered to the client.

Location: Elmwood, LA or Covington, LA

Supervisory Responsibilities: Based on experience

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Install AV equipment including displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, video walls, and control systems.

• Pull, terminate, and label AV and network cabling (HDMI, CAT6, coax, fiber, speaker wire, etc.).

• Mount racks, displays, speakers, and other AV gear following drawings and manufacturer specs.

• Integrate systems with control platforms (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX).

• System configuration and testing of AV equipment as needed to resolve issues.

• Configure and test AV systems to ensure proper functionality.

• Perform system checks, calibrations, and quality control inspections.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with signal flow, control, and audio levels.

• Interpret AV system designs, construction drawings, and signal flow diagrams.

• Document installation progress, wiring labels, and as-built changes.

• Communicate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment with project goals.

• Assist in servicing and maintaining AV systems post-installation.

• Provide on-site and remote technical support as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Familiarity with AV signal types (HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, audio, digital/analog).

• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints.

• Skilled in cable pulling, soldering, crimping, and connector termination.

• Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work on ladders or lifts.

• Valid Driver’s License and a clean Motor Vehicle Record, required.

• Ability to obtain formal approved clearances, required.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

• Formal education in Electronics or related field, preferred

• Experience in commercial AV installation, 1-3 years preferred.

• OSHA safety certification, preferred.

• CTS or manufacturer certifications (e.g., Extron, Crestron); this would be a plus!

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

• Ability to work in various environments, including outdoor and indoor installations.

• Travel to job sites required; occasional overnight stays.

• Physically demanding work climbing ladders, lifting equipment, working in ceilings and other tight spaces.

• Collaboration with other trades (electricians, IT teams, general contractors), as needed.
