Job description

Position Summary:

An employee at this level performs limited work assignments independently while continuing structured development under the guidance of a Lead DCC. The DCC/DCI must demonstrate increasing proficiency in field coordination activities, safety adherence, documentation, and technical knowledge related to distribution construction.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of five years’ experience in distribution construction. Preference is given to those who have demonstrated expertise in construction oversight and have previously served in Foreman or Superintendent roles.

Minimum Requirements & Expectations (including but not limited to):

Knowledge Requirements:

• Basic understanding of all applicable prints (civil, physical, structural, alignment).

• Understanding of staking, bisectors, structures, benchmarks, and general survey elements.

• Ability to implement and verify DIGTESS procedures as required by the client.

• Understanding of all applicable safety rules and OSHA regulations.

• Ability to work inside distribution substations alongside contractors.

• Understanding of assembly and erection procedures for all structure types.

• Familiarity with right-of-way widths and access plans.

• Basic understanding of conductor, overhead, and underground.

• Understanding of the responsibilities associated with Clearances, Holds, and Reclosers (C/H/R).

• Familiarity with the Contractor/Visitor Safety Handbook.

• Understanding of minimum working distances.

• Possession of all required tools and a reliable cell phone.

• Knowledge of safety practices and job-specific materials.

Skill Requirements:

• Ability to understand the sequence of construction activities.

• Understanding of relationships among the Construction Manager, Project Engineer, Lead DCC, and Districts.

• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn, along with strong retention of new information.

• Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.

• Good organizational skills and proactive work habits.

• Inquisitiveness and ability to seek clarification and deeper understanding.

• Familiarity with construction equipment and basic construction techniques.

• Dependability, enthusiasm, and confidence in performing assigned tasks.

General Expectations & Other Requirements:

• Must work safely at all times and adhere to OSHA and company policies.

• Must be capable of communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

• Must be dependable and able to follow directions from supervisory personnel.

• Must be able to travel long distances and work variable hours as required.

• Must meet company standards for MVR and background requirements.

• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and comply with the Company Drug Policy.

• Must be capable of conducting effective tailboard/pre-job briefings.

Required Physical Skills:
