Compensation: $102,000 - $134,000 per year (subject to compensation study upon candidate selection)

Overview

GLOVIS America is seeking a Senior Manager, Port Operations Support to lead a multifunctional team supporting port operations across North America. This position plays a critical role in achieving port processing goals, including wholesale target attainment, inventory aging management, campaign execution, parts supply chain support, capacity planning, and non-standard transaction management.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in automotive logistics, finished vehicle distribution, and port operations while demonstrating expertise in process improvement, KPI development, system enhancement initiatives, and team leadership. This role will drive operational efficiency, support strategic projects, and help ensure successful execution of customer and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Port Operations & Wholesale Support

  • Support achievement of monthly wholesale targets through daily production monitoring and performance analysis
  • Identify root causes of operational shortfalls and recommend corrective actions to leadership
  • Develop and enhance reporting tools that provide visibility into daily activities and port conditions
  • Monitor operational performance and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency

Parts Supply Chain Management

  • Monitor parts inventory and supply status to prevent shortages and support production plans
  • Coordinate parts ordering activities and inventory replenishment efforts
  • Manage parts inventory aging and support timely return processes to maximize warehouse utilization
  • Ensure parts availability aligns with operational and customer requirements

Inventory Aging Management

  • Monitor vehicle inventory aging and implement actions to prevent excessive aging
  • Coordinate aging management reporting for executives and customers
  • Support initiatives focused on improving inventory turnover and KPI performance

Quality, Campaign & Capacity Management

  • Support quality management activities and successful execution of port campaigns
  • Monitor port inventory levels and identify potential capacity constraints
  • Develop contingency plans to address vessel delays, force majeure events, and lot congestion
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to operational quality and throughput

Non-Standard Transactions & Special Projects

  • Coordinate vessel diversion planning and execution activities
  • Manage sourcing and implementation of off-site lot solutions
  • Support customer proposals and operational planning for special projects
  • Lead and support cross-functional initiatives related to operational improvements

Systems, Reporting & Capital Projects

  • Support automation and system enhancement projects, including VLMS, PDA, Production Planning Systems, ETA tracking, and related technologies
  • Enhance command and control dashboard reporting capabilities
  • Manage capital improvement projects focused on facility capacity, safety, and operational efficiency
  • Recommend organizational process and policy improvements

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop team members to achieve operational goals
  • Establish performance expectations and monitor progress against objectives
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement
  • Support organizational development through training and mentoring initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure operational alignment
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

Required Experience & Skills

Experience

  • 8โ€“12 years of direct experience in port operations required
  • 10โ€“15 years of experience in operations, warehousing, vehicle logistics, automotive logistics, ocean shipping, or related industries preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
